Welcome
EXCON2012, the 10th International Conference on Excitonic Processes in Condensed Matter, Nanostructured and Molecular Materials will be held in Groningen, The Netherlands, from Sunday, July 1 till Friday, July 6 2012.
The previous nine EXCON conferences were held in Darwin, Australia (1994), Kurort Gohrisch, Germany (1996), Boston, USA (1998), Osaka, Japan (2000), Darwin, Australia (2002), Cracow, Poland (2004), Winston-Salem, USA (2006), Kyoto, Japan (2008), and Brisbane, Australia (2010).
Groningen is a vibrant one thousand year old city in the North of The Netherlands. With its comprehensive university, founded in 1614, it combines a rich academic tradition with an attractive city life, characterized by culture, history, and an exciting social scene. The conference will be held close to the inner city, in the Oosterpoort, one of Groningen’s cultural centers located on the outside of the old canal that circumvents the city center. Groningen has a direct railway connection to Amsterdam Schiphol airport and a bus connection to Bremen domestic airport (Germany).
Scope
EXCON2012 will provide an interdisciplinary discussion forum for researchers from academia and industry working on excitonic processes in a variety of materials and devices (inorganic, organic, and biological) and on a range of phenomena caused by or associated with excitons, including luminescence, energy and charge transfer, nonlinear and bistable optical response, Bose-Einstein condensation, and photoinduced phase transitions.
Following the tradition of EXCON conferences, EXCON2012 is expected to attract participation from researchers from various disciplines, such as materials scientists, photo-physicists and photo-chemists, condensed matter physicists, physical chemists, and biophysicists. EXCON has a long standing tradition of strong interactions between theoretical and experimental researchers.
Presentations will be in oral and poster forms, with several invited talks. Some of the contributed papers will be selected as invited papers.
